MVNO Nation Africa 2025
MVNO Nation Africa returned to Cape Town for two days on 16 and 17 July 2025. The agenda covered the African MVNO landscape end to end: digital-first business models, eSIM, regulation, fintech integration, and the impact of 5G and satellite. Twenty hours of programming across the two days.
TAUSPACE was the platinum sponsor of the 2025 edition.
Our sessions
Nadia Vadachia, talk. Nadia spoke on the architectural choices an African MVNO has to make in its first eighteen months. Where to build versus where to integrate. How to keep optionality open as the brand grows beyond mobile. Which platform decisions become irreversible once the customer base scales past a certain point. The session was aimed at the founders and product leaders in the room who are still pre-launch or in the first year of operation, where the decisions taken now will shape the operating cost base for the next decade.
Dr. Ndirangu Kibata, panel host. Kibata hosted the bank-MVNO panel, drawing on three decades in African telecoms. That includes a foundational architectural role in the launch of a major mobile operator and one of the continent's earliest commercial mobile-money infrastructure deployments. The panel covered non-interest revenue, financial inclusion, and the governance differences between running a bank MVNO and a standalone digital brand. The questions the panel kept returning to were the practical ones: who owns the customer record when the bank's CRM and the MVNO's BSS disagree, how the audit committee should think about an in-house mobile operation, where the regulatory line sits between a bank-branded SIM and a banking product.
Why we sponsored at platinum
Cape Town is the working address for half the TAUSPACE engineering team. The platinum slot let us host the part of the conversation where banking and telecoms collide, which is the centre of gravity for a large slice of what TAUSPACE builds. The bank-MVNO conversation, in particular, is moving faster on the African continent than anywhere else in the world right now, and the room had the operator, MVNO, bank, and regulator perspectives all present.
If you were in the room and want to continue the conversation, reach out via the contact form.
